About Buffy
Random Things About Me (that you probably don’t need to know)
1. God absolutely amazes me everyday. He is Who makes life exciting. I love our interaction and watching what He does when I get out of His way.
2. I am married to an awesome man who I love more now than when I married him 28 years ago.
3. Our son Ronnie III has amazing talents, such a fun sense of humor and kind spirit. I love to hear him play his guitar and sing.
4. Josie is the answer to my prayers through the years for Ronnie’s wife. She is an amazing, kind, loving, gentle person. I thank God for her. It will be fun on May 24 to have another daughter officially.
5. Ronnie and Josie both have a biological sister named Stephanie.
6. My Stephanie is so much fun – she makes me laugh – she always has a story about her life. We get to share many deep conversations and fun times.
7. In late July of 1979 I met Ron’s dad in Wyoming. He called home to Texas that night and told Ron that he had met the girl he should date. That didn’t go over really well. Ron told his dad he would “pick his own girlfriends, thank you very much.” Dad still says he picked me out though.
8. In late August of 1979 I met Ron at the first vespers at Union College our freshman year. We prayed together at afterglow. While he was praying, I heard God’s voice say “This is the man you will marry.” That scared me to death.
9. It wasn’t until after working at Glacier View Ranch together the next summer that we went on our first date in November of 1980.
10. When I went home for dinner with Ron the first time, his dad whispered in his ear, “You’ll pick your own girls? – That’s the girl.”
11. This is the third time I’ve lived in Lincoln.
12. I also lived in four other small towns in Nebraska before we moved to Wyoming when I was 8.
13. We lived in four towns in Wyoming before I got married.
14. I have a friend named Terri who I went to school with in three different towns. One in Nebraska and two in Wyoming. Thanks for being such a great friend Terri. We also got to live one more time in the same town with her family in Bozeman, Montana.
15. I have moved 13 times since I got married. (A couple of times in the same town.)
16. I lived in Tacoma, Washington and Takoma Park, Maryland. The same person was instrumental in getting us to each church.
17. Ron and I pastored in three of the towns that his family had lived in. Keene, Texas: Takoma Park, Maryland: and Lincoln, Nebraska. Sometimes life is too strange.
18. In 2006 I accidently wrote a book. Really – it just happened. I started in Feb. It was in my hands the first of April. I took out a credit card with a $12,000 limit on it. Didn’t use quite all of it. But it was paid off by October. I found one box of books when we moved. I thought they were all gone.
19. One time in church I started laughing at something funny before prayer. I tried really hard not to laugh but in the middle of the prayer I couldn’t keep it in any longer and I snorted really loud and laughed. It was awful.
20. We have pastored three college churches and five other ones in spite of that experience.
21. I have amazing parents. They taught me to trust God. Laugh through life and pray about everything. I love them very much.
22. I have two brothers and a sister that I don’t see nearly often enough. I think they should come visit me.
23. When I was little we didn’t have a lot of money and my mom said – “people come from all over the nation to camp at Yellowstone and the Tetons. We are lucky we don’t have to go very far.” So we camped there every summer when I was growing up. We still camp there every summer, only now we have had to travel from all parts of the country to do that.
24. I have lived in Nebraska, Wyoming, Colorado, Michigan, Florida, Washington, Texas, Montana, and Maryland.
25. My favorite states are Montana, Wyoming, Alaska and Washington.
26. But I have favorite people in every state in America and many countries.
27. I’m not naturally organized, though I really try. I forget to plug in my phone and I’m always looking for my keys. God knew this and gave me a husband who charges his phone every night and always keeps his keys in the same place. I know where he keeps his keys and that his phone is always charged, so sometimes HE doesn’t know where his keys or phone are and it isn’t his fault. I think God put me in his life to sanctify him. This trait that I have requires the people in my life to forgive me often.
28. I love Itlian food. Maggiano’s is my absolutely favorite place to eat. I was so glad after we left D.C. to learn there was one in Denver. I’m saving my money.
29. I also love Tex/Mex.
30. I grew up a preacher’s kid and said I’d never marry a preacher. I never dreamed I’d be one.
31. I love watching God’s Spirit work to mend relationships and bring about forgiveness.
32. My friends are awesome.
33. I love the mountains.
34. I love rain and snow.
35. I don’t like to be outside on hot days. I need a real good air conditioner and people who aren’t afraid to use it.
36. I love to go on spiritual retreats.
37. Moving has been one of the hardest things in my life, but because we have lived so many places I have friends everywhere. Missing each one of the makes me long even more for heaven.
38. I love donuts and chocolate chip cookies.
39. I love to read by the fire.

Hi Buffy,
I got on to your blog quite by accident, but so glad that I did. I was helping somebody with their netAdventist website and she showed me the Mid America site and that’s where I saw your name as link to your blog.
Stephie is a good writer and so are you. I enjoyed skimming through, and will come back again when I’m not at work!
And yes, being in the ministry makes me long for heaven too. I really enjoyed our times together in Keene!
We were Mother’s of the Grooms in the same year. Me: April 26 You: May 24. Just a month apart. How cool is that!
Love, Esper

Oh, Esper! I loved seeing the pictures on fb. It really does make me miss you. I can’t believe our boys are married. But such sweet girls.
Thanks for checking out my blog. I need to post again. The wedding and some Camp Meetings have slowed me down some.
Have a great summer.
Love from Lincoln.

Hi Buffy, I heard you speak at Big Camp in Australia 2010.
I tried to send you an email asking for the powerpoints from your seminar, but the email bounced back.
Could you pleeeeeease send me the powerpoints?
I’ve ordered the CD’s and they arrived earlier this week.
I want to show to our church members who weren’t able to go.
Thanks, Karen.
